Our tips

Tips

  • There is usually no waiting line and if so, it moves fast, but the Pantheon can get really overcrowded in some periods, and that may leave an unpleasant impression.

  • The entrance is free, you can book a guided tour or take an audio-guide inside.

  • The average visit time is about 20 minutes but some stay there for an hour.

  • Try to visit the Pantheon when it’s slightly raining to see that the rain drops don’t reach the ground through the Oculus (the central opening to the sky in the middle of the site, 9 meters in diameter!). In case of heavy rain, visiting is not recommended, it may be slippery inside.

  • If you want to see the sun streaming in through it - best come between 11:00 and 13:00 when the sun is at its highest position.

  • Mornings are usually more crowded, with tourist groups arriving mostly between 10:00 and 14:00.

  • Come at the opening time or in the afternoon after 16:00 to avoid crowds.
