Our tips

Top tips

The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is the most popular museum in Denmark, yet you won’t see much overcrowding, as the place is big enough to make it feel spacious and not too noisy.

Located about 25 miles north of the Danish capital and easily reachable by train, this museum has an impressive permanent collection with over 3,000 works, and hosts 8-12 special exhibitions annually (check the current and upcoming exhibitions on the official website to know more).

Prefer visiting on a weekday afternoon, it’s when the museum is calmest. Mornings tend to be busier.

The museum is closed on Mondays and closes earlier (at 18:00) during public holidays (you can check those here).

The high season lasts from May to October, with particular peaks in July and August.

The lowest number of visitors is in winter, from December to the end of February (excluding school holidays at the end of December and on the second week of February).

As some of the museum’s exhibitions attract thousands of visitors, avoid coming during the first or last week of any special exhibition (check the schedule here).
