• Ticket offices start working half an hour before the museums’ opening time. However, the wait at this hour (9:30) is significant: it consists mostly of those who want to get to the Kremlin Armoury visit at 10:00 am since the number of tickets is limited. Waiting in line can take 40-60 minutes of your time.

• Overall, queues to the ticket offices depend a lot on the time slots for Kremlin Armoury visits, as there are only four available per day: at 10:00am, 12:00pm, 14:30, 16:30. 30-40 minutes before their start the queue doubles in size and gets back to “normal” when the visit starts.

• The best time to visit Kremlin museums is in the afternoon during weekdays. Come after 15:00 to benefit from little or no waiting.

• The Kremlin is closed for visits on Thursdays.

• The biggest crowds gather on a Saturday, because there is a Presidential Guard ceremony at 12:00pm.

• You can book your tickets online or buy them on location if you like risk.

• Every third Monday of the month there is free entry for children under 18, try to avoid this day, as crowds are impressive!

In low season coming in the afternoon during the week is also a good idea. Waiting lines can be seen on weekends and sometimes from 10:00 to 12:00 during week days, but they are usually moderate and won’t take much of your time.

The Ivan the Great Bell-Tower and its exhibition

Children under the age of 12 are not permitted to visit the Bell-Tower.
