Tips
Peterhof without waiting
If you arrive in high season – try to come on Monday : the Palace is closed but all the Parks and most of the other attractions are open. This will definitely save you a lot of time (as the biggest lines are standing for the Palace and tourist groups avoid this day when coming to Peterhof).
If you can’t neglect visiting the Palace, consider that for individual tourists, the admission time is limited: first session is from 12:00 to 14:30 and the second is from 16:15 to 17:45 (to 19:45 on Saturdays). Try to visit the Palace during the second session, as there are times less visitors!
Everyday during the summer season at 11:00 you can watch the launch of the most famous ensemble of fountains, the Grand Cascade, which runs from the northern facade of the Grand Palace to the Marine Canal comprising 64 different fountains and over 200 bronze statues. It’s more than spectacular and we advise you to take a look !
Plan your visit in advance by defining blocks, palaces and parts of the Parks you want to visit. Peterhof’s territory is too big to explore the whole of it in only one day.
The most popular days for visiting Peterhof and therefore the most crowded ones include summer season’s opening and the official launch of the fountains (in May), “white nights” (June-July), season’s closure with the fountains festival (mid-September).
During the day, the greatest number of visitors in Peterhof can be seen at about 11:00am, at the moment of the Grand Cascade’s launch. Usually there are no more crowds or queues left after 17:00, even during high season.
The busiest days of the week are Saturday, followed by Sunday (to avoid if possible).

Bad weather
If the weather seems to be rainy – it’s better to change plans and go to Peterhof another day : most museums and pavilions will be closed when it rains.
Coming with kids
If you have kids, they’ll especially enjoy the part of the gardens where stepping on certain stones activates nearby fountains. However they risk getting totally wet so taking extra clothes (at least socks and pants) could be a good idea.
