Tips to avoid queuing
Gallerie dell’Accademia see less visitors than the Doge’s Palace, but prepare to see an hour or an hour and a half long queue during high season.
To avoid this pain, there is no better solution than to book your ticket online and skip all the waiting for the ticket booth. You’ll need to choose a specific date and time slot for your visit when booking online. You can also book your tickets by telephone: +39 041 5200345.
Evening hours are not as busy; from Tuesday to Sunday the Galleries are open until 7:15pm (until 2pm on Mondays). The best solution to avoid crowds would be to arrive Tuesday through Thursday at about 5pm. This may turn out to be a risky strategy during the summer, since, if stuck in a queue, you may not have enough time to discover the galleries before it closes. However, the tactic works very well during the rest of the year.
Another option is to come early in the morning: the Galleries open very early, at 8.15 AM. If you come at the opening time - you’ll have about two hours to explore the place before the main crowds arrive.
