Our tips

Tips for your visit

  • To avoid crowds, visit the Cemetery in the morning, right after the opening.

  • The busiest periods of the year are the months of July and August, the D-day festival (two weeks around the 6th of June), long weekends in May and - especially - the 6th of June, the D-Day anniversary.

  • From September to April precautions to avoid crowds are not really needed here, the site is enough big and you won’t feel yourself disturbed by other visitors.

  • In the afternoon there’s a ceremony of flag being brought down. You can watch it if you turn out to be at the Cemetery at that time.

  • In summer coming an hour or two before the closing time will not help you avoid the tourist crowds - that’s one of the WWII sites that most groups tend to visit in the afternoon.
