Avoiding crowds at Gardens by the Bay
Arrange your visit on the weekday, there are always less visitors. Friday and Saturday evenings can be very crowded. If you arrive just for a weekend - schedule your visit on early morning to see the Gardens and get back in the evening just for the show or choose Sunday afternoon, it tends to be less busy compared to Fridays and Saturdays.
Morning hours is when the site is at its calmest. If you want to wander around and enjoy the plants and views in solitude - just arrive early, you’ll have at least a couple of hours before it may get packed.
Buy your tickets online. That will let you skip the queues at the ticket office. Those may take sometimes an hour on a weekend afternoon!
Most visitors try to assist to the “Garden Rhapsody” show, held at 7:45 and 8:45 PM every day (at 9:30 PM as well on Fridays, Saturdays, public holidays and the eve of public holidays). Those are peak hours at the Gardens. With an average visit duration of 2-3 hours, crowds are common on place starting from 4 PM. The most popular itinerary includes visiting the Flower Dome and the Cloud Forest before the sunset, taking the Skywalk during the sunset hour and wandering around the Outdoor Gardens waiting for the show to start.
One of the best ways to avoid crowds is to split your visit in 2 parts: see the Conservatories and the Outdoor Gardens in the morning and get back in the evening for the Skywalk & the Garden Rhapsody.
Avoid planning you visit on school holidays periods and public holidays, it’s significantly more crowded.
Singapore has a stable flow of visitors all year round, and the difference between the “high” and the “low” seasons is not big. Anyway, July and August are usually the busiest months, followed by December and January. September and November tend to be the calmest ones. June and December bring times more locals to the Gardens, as children are on holidays.
