Things you should know
The capacity of the Catacombs is limited to 200 visitors at any time. Admission may be delayed for a short time during busy periods. That explains why during the holidays it’s impossible to enter if you arrive after 6 p.m.
The waiting can easily take 3 hours of your time during the holidays and 1 hour during the rest of the year.
The best way to avoid it is to buy in advance your tickets, they allow you to skip the line. Book them here.
Keep in mind, there are no toilets or cloakrooms inside, and you’ll have to take 130 steps to go down and 83 steps back up to street level. The Catacombs are not accessible for persons with reduced mobility.
The average temperature inside is about 14°, so take some warm clothes with you.
In addition, the space being reduced and sensitive, no baggage larger than 40 x 30 cm is allowed.
Despite all these challenges, the Catacombs are really worth visiting!
