Our tips
Waiting lines

The biggest crowds gather at the Prado from 11:00 to 13:30. On weekends there are always more visitors than during the week.

Try to come 10 minutes before opening (you’ll have about an hour before the museum will be occupied by loud group tours) or after 15:00.

There are hours with free entry: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m, from Monday to Saturday and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Usually waiting lines are longer during these hours but if you come in low season it could be a good way to save money: in winter the queues are short or even inexistent.
Buy your tickets online
You can purchase your ticket online by choosing a date for your visit. Especially for high season, it’s worth it: you’ll be able to avoid long queues and will enter the museum through a special entrance reserved for those with tickets.
