Our tips

Waiting lines

  • The biggest crowds gather at the Prado from 11:00 to 13:30. On weekends there are always more visitors than during the week.

  • Try to come 10 minutes before opening (you’ll have about an hour before the museum will be occupied by loud group tours) or after 15:00.

  • There are hours with free entry: 6 p.m. to 8 p.m, from Monday to Saturday and from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday. Usually waiting lines are longer during these hours but if you come in low season it could be a good way to save money: in winter the queues are short or even inexistent.

Buy your tickets online

You can purchase your ticket online by choosing a date for your visit. Especially for high season, it’s worth it: you’ll be able to avoid long queues and will enter the museum through a special entrance reserved for those with tickets.
