Our tips

Tips for the visit

  • Avoid coming on major religious holidays (Christmas, Easter, Assumption of the Virgin, All Saints day) and on days that you think may attract the devoted.

  • Higher attendance of visitors has also been noted during the French school holidays.

  • It is very crowded in Montmartre during warm summer evenings.

  • Try to schedule the visit for early morning, there are much fewer people than in the afternoon.

  • During Mass there are more visitors but the overall experience of the Basilica could be more impressive. Try not to come on Sunday when the most important Mass of the week takes place (at 11am).
