Our tips
Save time
Though this Museum is part of Madrid’s “golden triangle” (along with the Prado and the Queen Sofia Museum), it is usually much less crowded than the other two. The average waiting time doesn’t exceed 20 minutes, but you can guarantee yourself a wait-free visit by booking your ticket online.
The best days to visit the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum are Wednesday and Thursday. On these days (especially in the afternoon, after lunch time) you will be able to enjoy the museum’s collection and exhibitions without crowds.
Try to avoid Mondays: the permanent collection is open from 12:00 to 16:00 and the entrance is free on this day, that evidently brings more people to the Museum.
There are always several temporary exhibitions taking place, some of them attract lots of visitors, especially during the first and last week. Check the museum’s current and upcoming exhibitions before going.
The number of visitors doubles on the days when the weather is bad. Prefer a sunny day for your visit.
