Tips to avoid queues at Hong Kong Disneyland
Choose a weekday for your visit. Fridays are more crowded than other weekdays, weekends always see the biggest number of visitors.
Arrive early. Even though at Tokyo Disneyland you’ll see hundreds of people an hour before the gates’ opening, here it’s another story. It will generally be enough to arrive about 10 minutes before the opening time to be part of the first wave of visitors and take advantage of the fast entrance to some of your preferred attractions. Morning hours are the calmest, and you’ll have time until noon when the main crowds arrive.
Peak hours are usually from 1pm to 3pm. That’s probably the best time to have lunch, because the waiting times to major attractions are at their longest.
Use FastPass. Though in Hong Kong Disneyland it is only valid for “Space Mountain” and “The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh” attractions, those may have quite long queues during high season. You may take several FastPasses throughout the day and visit each of them without queues 2-3 times.
This Disneyland is much smaller than the other ones, so generally one day is more than enough to explore it.
Parades and shows are not to be missed! Some people will start saving their place for a show or the fireworks an hour before it starts, its up to you to decide if it’s worth it.
Anyway, queues in Disneyland are not as long as in other parks, and seldom exceed one hour. During the busy periods 40 minutes is common only for major attractions, while others usually have a 20-30 minute waiting time.

Best time to visit Hong Kong Disneyland
The weather in Hong Kong varies a lot, with the typhoon season from May through November (peak risk is in August). It’s very hot and wet during the summer, while the park is very crowded as well, so we advise you to avoid this period, or at least the busiest months of July and August.
Some periods of the year bring an enormous number of Chinese mainland tourists:
- the Spring Festival (two weeks after the Chinese New Year, in January or February, check the dates)
- the Golden Week, including the National Day holiday (usually in the beginning of October, check the dates)
- The Labour holiday period (end of April - beginning of May).
If you prefer coming in spring or summer - go for late May or early June, children are in school until the middle of the month, so you’ll be able to delight in the parks attractions with fewer crowds.
The best season for the Disneyland visit is autumn: it’s warm and dry, not too crowded (except for the holiday periods), and you can catch Disneyland’s Halloween festivities. Unlike other Disneyland parks around the world, the one in Hong Kong doesn’t see an incredible rise in visitors’ number during the seasonal periods like Halloween or Easter. Christmas period is however very popular.
Out of the winter period, the best option to visit the park is about a week before Chinese New Year, with lighting and decorations already in place, but crowds still at a very moderate level.
