Useful information
Opening hours and admission fees
Open every day from 10 am to 5 pm (to 6 pm in August). Thursdays until 7pm.
Closed on the 25th and 26th of December. Open on the 1st of January from noon.
Admission is free. A charge may be made for special exhibitions.
Free guided tour
Free guided tour of the Scottish National Gallery takes place every last Saturday of the month.
Booking is not required.

By bus: all City Centre/Princes Street buses normally pass the Scottish National Gallery.
By Gallery bus: circulates between the Scottish National Gallery and the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art. Click here for more details.
By train: the Scottish National Gallery is a few minutes’ walk from Waverley Station.
By car: there is no car park at the Gallery, and very limited on-street parking near the venue. Prefer using the public transport or park your car in one of the many City Centre car parks.
